Pocklington Book Festival

The Pocklington Book Festival was organised by Simply Books of Pocklington for the first time last year as part of Independent Booksellers Week (IBW), a national event to promote and celebrate independent bookshops.
Due to the high levels of discounting by chain booksellers and supermarkets, independent bookshops are facing enormous challenges. IBW aims to show people what independents can offer, not just to book lovers but to their communities.
The first Pocklington Book Festival was so popular that we decided to make it an annual event. This year’s festival is even longer with more authors and more events. 10 days, 9 authors, 7 poets and 37 events for every age and every interest.
The Pocklington Book Festival is not an organisation, it is an event organised by Simply Books and as such is unable to apply for any kind of funding. We are hugely grateful to our sponsors and the Friends of Pocklington Book Festival for helping us finance the event.
